Q: Do I need experience to join the Club ?
A: No experience is required, we offer low cost lessons to anyone wishing to learn the game from scratch.
Q: How much does membership cost ?
A: £72 per year (£15 for Juniors)

Q: What specialist equipment is require ?
A: The minimum ‘specialist’ equipment required is a set of Bowls (ranging from £40 second hand to £150 new) and Bowls Shoes (£15 - £50). All your clothing can be as cheap or as expensive as you like (as long as it is the correct colour !)

Q: Do I need my own 'Jack'
A: The club provides all the equipment needed to play a match , Jack, mats, scorecards  and scoreboards etc. Other equipment you are advised to have is a measure (£5) and some chalk (free from the grandchildren !)
A: Yes - as long as it is within Club opening times and there are free rinks to play on, you can play for FREE for as long as the rink is empty.
Q: I don’t know all the rules , will this stop me playing ?

A: No – The basic rules are easily picked up and the more you play the more you will learn. Normally there is always an experienced player down the club you can ask if in doubt. (How to play the game under ‘The Game -information’)

Q: Can non members (like friends and family) enter the club ?
A: Yes – Spectators are always welcome

Q: How long does the outdoor season last ?
A: Approximately from the beginning of April till the middle of October

Q: What happens when it is raining, do you play ?

A: Firstly if you do not have waterproof’s you will get wet ! and yes we do play in light rain. Play is stopped for heavy showers to avoid the green getting damaged.

Q: Who runs and maintains the Club facilities ?
A: The members do. All green maintenance, cleaning, general repairs etc is performed by the club members (usually by rota basis)

Q: Do I have to play Club matches ?

A:  No - We have a large friendly fixture list during the year plus the A&D league but no one is forced to play in these games. If you do not put yourself forward you will not be pressurised into playing.

Q: How long does a game last ?

A:  As a rough guide a normal ‘team’ game which would be 4 players per team playing 21 ends would last approx 2 ½ hours.
