KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS
MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: A straight singles. Winner is the first player to 21 shots.
LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP: A straight singles. Winner is the first player to 21 shots.
OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP: A open singles. Winner is the first player to 21 shots.
NON WINNERS CUP: A open singles. Winner is the first player to 21 shots.
LADIES TWO WOOD: A straight singles. Winner is the highest score at 21 ends.
GENTS TWO WOOD: A straight singles. Winner is the highest score at 21 ends
COCK OF THE GREEN: A straight singles. Winner is the highest score at 11 ends
"OVER 65'S” OPEN: An open singles. Winner is the first player to 21 shots
This Competition must be played in the afternoon’s Monday to Friday. Players must be over 65 or 65 before the season ends
HANDICAP CUP: An open singles, Winner is the first to reach the specified shots.
Specified shots for higher handicapped player is 21 plus the difference between handicaps. Specified shots for lower handicapped is 21e.g. Player ‘A' - handicap 10 Player 'B' - handicap 3. Player 'A' is required to reach 28 shots before Player 'B' reaches 21 SHOTS.
MIXED PAIRS: Formed by a random draw
Winners are the pair with the highest score at 21 ends
Draw - One Lady to One Gent until all of the entered players have been paired.
Any remaining players not drawn will have their entry fee refunded.
LEVERSUTCH PAIRS: Competitors enter as pairs,
The winners are the pair with the highest score at 21 ends.
Married couples are excluded as a joint team. The entered pair may not be changed after the first round has been played.
MARRIED COUPLES: Handicap event.
The winners are the pair with the highest score at 21 ends.
The handicap's of each pair is added together. Half of the difference between the combined handicaps is placed on the score board, BEFORE the start of the game. e.g. Mrs. X.- handicap 4 Mr. .X. - handicap 7 Total handicap - 11; Mrs. Y. - handicap 2 Mr. Y. - handicap 1. Total handicap - 3. Difference is 8. Mr.& Mrs. Y. start with 4 on the board.
TAYLOR TRIPLES: Knockout Competition.
Winners are the team with the highest score at 18 ends.
Teams must be mixed, Teams formed by random draw.
Rounds to be played over two days. Final to be played on Finals Weekend. .
The Rules contained in “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” apply except for
the rules specified herein.
FIXED DAY EVENTS
KNOCKOUT CUP:
Format. A straight singles played over 9 ends
Played to a finish including final on the day
Specific rules apply and are displayed in the clubhouse flip file.
C & D CHALLENGE PLATE:
Format. A two wood pairs or triples Round Robin dependant on number of entries.
4 divisions x 9 ends, semi-final x 11/15 ends.
The number of rounds for each round may be varied depending on number of entries.
Final, a full game on Finals Weekend.
Specific rules apply and are displayed in the clubhouse flip file.
LEN WELLS SINGLES:
Format: Knockout Competition.
Each game played to 7 ends
Played a finish including final on the day

LEN WELLS PAIRS:
Format: Round Robin.
Each game played over 45 minutes or 9 ends.
No of divisions Scoring. Played to a finish including final on the day
Specific rules apply and are displayed in the clubhouse flip file.

WHERE ALTERNATIVE FORMATS ARE DEPENDANT ON NUMBER OF
ENTRIES THE APPLICABLE FORMAT WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE
COMPETITION SECRETARY AT THE DRAW.
OTHER EVENTS
SPOON DRIVE:
Usually the first club game of the season organised by the Club Captain,or
Competition Secretary or retiring Officer of the club. Game fee £1. Refreshments – Tea/coffee at ½ way. Preceded by a Spider with proceeds to charity. Format - drawn rinks 5 ends per round.
All players draw marked disc for Rink No. and Team position. Redraw every 5 ends.
All players to participate – if entries do not match complete rinks i.e. multiples of 8 then blank discs for the odd players to be used in the draw. Blank sit out the round & enter 5 points on scorecard for that round. All blanks draw first in all subsequent rounds.
Redraw for Rinks and Team Position after 5 ends
Each player keeps their own scorecard and record their team score at each end.
Played to a total of 3 or 4 rounds as determined by the Comps. Sec.on the day. Winner is player with the highest scorecard total. Receives commemorative spoon.
Player with the lowest scorecard total receives a booby prize.
LADIES V GENTS:
A game of Rinks 21 ends or Triples 18 ends.
Ladies Captain & Men’s Captain pick their own teams from notice board entry list.
Game fee £4 to be paid Ladies or Gents only in alternate years include club meal.
There are no prizes for any teams or players
PRESIDENT v CAPTAIN:
A game of Rinks 21 ends or Triples 18 ends
President & Club Captain pick their own teams from notice board entry list.
Game fee £2 per player includes club meal. There are no prizes for any teams or players
CANDLELIT:
Usually the last game of the season – organised by the Competitions Secretary.
An evening game of rinks, Preceded by a meal prepared by volunteers.
Team picked by random draw from notice board entry list
Game fee to cover cost of food & advised on entry list.
Winners receive no recognition at all – ( it will be too dark to accurately record scores!!! )
